  A Christmas Carol takes the form of a relatively simplistic allegory--it is seldom considered one of Dickens' important literary contributions. The novella's emotional depth, brilliant narration, and endearing characters, however, offer plenty of rewards for literature students, Dickensian fans, and Grinches alike. Like A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol has won much appreciation among general readers despite being dismissed by scholarly critics of Dickens' work.

Summary

Scrooge is a cold, hard man. He loves money, and he doesn't like people.

He really doesn't like Christmas. But then some ghosts visit him. They show him his past, his life now, and a possible future. Scrooge decided to the mind to change thanks to a departed soul. After this day, Scrooge changed. Magic of Christmas let him be reborn between the people who were full of love kindly. He promised reform and Became a good person afterwards.

II. About the Novelist
 

British novelist Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, England. Over the course of his writing career, he wrote the beloved classic novels Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Nicholas Nickle by, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations. On June 9, 1870, Dickens died of a stroke in Kent, England, leaving his final novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, unfinished.He wrote A Christmas Carol when he was thirty-one. At that he was famous for other great stories.

III. My Reaction

Reaction Point - main character(主な登場人物）
 Character makes story. So it is very important that express a character.

For example
・Scrooge -- The chief character of the story. A cold-blooded unjust man past middle age who runs an accounting firm.

・Marley -- It was the partner of the accounting firm, but dies.

・Fred -- A nephew of son of the younger sister of Scrooge that is Scrooge.

・The first ghost　-- Ghost to show the past.　

・The second ghost　--　Ghost to show the now.

・ The third ghost　-- Ghost to show future.

・Bell -- The woman who was a fiance of Scrooge.

These people make a story interesting.
So they are very important.

The text from which a movie is made, including dialogue and information about action, settings, etc.

For example
The event that happened in Christmas. Of the chief character is Scrooge. 

He was very Cold- blooded person.There were departed soul which intended to make him a good person.

In this story, A day of Christmas becomes the main background.

・The fantasy story that a departed soul comes up.

By the appearance of the departed soul, It express a story non-practically.

My General Opinion

In normal book, departed soul surprised and be afraid of a human.
But departed of A Christmas Carol changed Scrooge of the chief character into a good person.
So I thought that was very interesting.
In addition, Because the Christmas carol was a fantasy story, it was interesting!
I want everybody to read by all means.
